How can I transfer my domain to you?
| Transferring a domain to Trupod is easy:
- Go to http://www.trupod.com/transfer
- Enter the domain to be transfered
Transfers typically take 4 to 6 days. However, there are a few things that must be setup correctly in advance or the transfer will fail. Before trying to do a transfer:
- First check to be sure the domain has been at the current registrar for at least sixty days. (If not, mark your calendar to remember to come back and visit us here.)
- If your domain is already expired, it must first be renewed with the current registrar.
- Check to make sure the email address associated with your domain is correct. Once you start the transfer, we are going to email that address asking for permission to move the domain. If the email listed at the current registrar isn't your email or doesn't work, you can't respond to our email and thus the transfer will fail.
- Check to make sure the domain isn't locked. If it is locked, the transfer will fail. It is easy to unlock your domain. We have short videos showing how to do it, with friendly narration explaining everything. Click the one for your registrar:
Here's a convenient way to check the status of your domain:
- Go to: http://whois.domaintools.com/your-domain.com (but replace "your-domain.com" with your own domain).
- Find where it says "Administrative Contact:" This is where your correct email must be listed.
- Now scroll down to where it says "Status:" If the status says "locked," you must get this changed before doing the transfer.
To get the above changed, you must visit the current registrar, as demonstrated in the videos above.
